Founded in 1977, Western University of Health Sciences in Pomona, California in an independent, non-profit university dedicated to educating a diverse student body of nearly 3,700 men and women enrolled in 21 programs in the human and animal health professions. The University consists of nine graduate health professions colleges including: Osteopathic Medicine, Allied Health, Pharmacy, Graduate Nursing, Veterinary Medicine, Dental Medicine, Optometry, Podiatric Medicine, and Graduate Biomedical Sciences.
Established in 2007, the College of Optometry differentiated itself by providing interprofessional educaiton with other health professions, early entry into patient care, 21st century technology, and optometric rehabilitation.
